Are there things your mother "always said"? My children claim I do, and though at first I doubted it, this collection of my favorite opinions and beliefs is for the pudding of which they are the proof.

I think one of the first etiquette lessons I really loved was a story about the commoner visiting the queen, and when he drank from the fingerbowl, the courtiers gasped, but the queen calmly picked up hers and drank from it as well. Now, that's class.
